The target audience that i would be aiming would look like these 5 men, they would enjoy a variety genres of music including rock, ie: Kings Of Leon, Stereophonics and Muse and drum&bass ie: Prodigy, Pendulum and Chase&Status. Their social aspects of life would be attending gigs/festivals that include this type of music. Their life style would be very laid back and would live in a working class economy, so the money they earn would be spent on their enjoyments, Eg: Festivals/Gigs, fashion and parties. The target audience style and fashion would be a quirky sense of style, and could be seen as an old fashioned vintage look, fashion would play a big role as it aids to the genre of music they fall into, and sets there image and group they would fall into. Eg: The rock 'rough' look would link to the drum&bass as iconic band members would dress in this fashion as well. This would all link to the stereotypical groups that people fall into. This group of men would be my ideal target audience as they show a rock/punk look and would fit in with the scene of heavy festivals/gigs and parties where our music from the music video would be played.
I have chosen this video to analyze as it is the same genre of music, Drum&Bass. Also throughout this video it shares the similar topics, such as drug and alcohol abuse and the all over point of the fast paced action that adds to the typical Drum&Bass genre which is what we aim to create in our music video.
The first part of the video is set on a man and his show ''The Patrick Chase Show'', this show is based on the famous show 'Jerry Springer', where couples/families resolve their problems and typically have a fight which creates good TV. The presenter and main character in this video, Patrick Chase is followed throughout the whole day and night, we start with an establishing shot of him in his makeup room and we see a picture of him with a wife and kids. We then follow him out into the show were we see the show beginning and him and criticizing and abusing the guests on the show about their bad habits of drug use and drinking, ''Not only does he take drugs, he uses them in front of the children'' and ''You absolutely disgust me''. After the show the switch around begins, we then follow Patrick leaving the studio and driving about whilst smoking and drinking, he also rubs his nose in a certain way as if too suggest he has taken drugs. We then see that his critism and abuse given to the guest was very hypocritical as he is doing the same as them. We see Patrick Chase go to a woman house where he has sex with this woman whilst the kids are in the room next door watching Tv, he then just leaves the woman with the kids to go out and continue with his reckless behaviour. As the night goes on we follow the main character to parties and clubs where more drinking and drug taking is involved. The night seems to get out of control when he then takes another random woman home which also involves more drug taking and drinking, he also has sex with this woman, keeping in mind that he has children and a wife still. This then proves that this man is very hypocritical. Flashbacks then appear to remind the audience of what he did the whole night, to him then crashing his car and dancing around in the street, we see him being sick and driving home in early hours to where his show is. He has his make-up and hair done all in time for him to go and present his show. His calming act and cool ways suggest to us that he has done this many times before and that he will probably do this again.
OkGo are another well known rock bad who are known more for their music videos which are enjoyable and different to most music videos that are created today. Ok Go's videos follow a simple theme which is cheap to make but time consuming, this has proved to be very effective. Their video's are created as if they are one long consecutive shot and not broken, because it is made to be a continuous shot it makes it more appealing to the audience.
Here We Go Again;
Here we go again is one of the first video that the group had done. The video appears to be one long continuous shot and is not broken. It is the same position the whole way through the video and follows the band doing a scenes of dance moves on 8 different running machines. The video lasts 3/4 minutes of just them doing the whole dance routine but because it is so simple and un-relevant to the music lyrics, it is something that draws the audience in. This video is most remember able even if it has 4 same characters, same settings, same background, same shot and same costumes/style that is all un-relatied to the lyrics and is highly effective. The video is most likely be very cheap to make and produce, but very time consuming for the band as they would have to learn the routine and practice hard to get it right, this seems to be a repetitive pattern throughout OkGo's video's.
White Knuckles
This video also appears to be one consecutive shot, this video includes a serious of movements that link on to another but involve dogs in the video. The series of events take part again, in the same location, same costume/style with the same 4 characters (the band) and same dogs and camera placed in the same position. The video is similar to 'Here We Go Again' as it is simple and original, but very time consuming for the bans as they have to work with the trained dogs for this video.
Both videos 'Here We Go Again' and 'White Knuckles' are very similar is not the same but with different events that happen in the video. The video consist of little editing and appears as one long shot. There are some exceptions to the videos of OkGo that may be slightly different.
This too Shall Pass
This video again does appear to be one long shot, including the same four characters, the same costume/clothes and a main location (a warehouse). There is a difference in this video to the others 'Here We Go Again' and 'White Knuckles' as this video had to be edited. The video 'This Too Shall Pass' consists of a sequence of connective ticks being followed a and the four characters of the band OkGo appear every so often throughout some of the sets of tricks. The set of connective tricks are set out in a ''mousetrap'' style, so that it takes the whole time of the video. Every now and then the name band appears in the tricks to keep reminding the audience of who they are, this is as OkGo normally appear in the video's for the whole period of the time. By doing this it makes the audience remember OkGo and that this is their video and of their previous success.
