Music Video Analysis - 3. Smack My Bitch Up, Prodigy.

Song - Smack My Bitch Up
Artist - Prodigy
Director -

Story
Unlike many other dance videos, this has a very clear narrative, building up to a surprise twist at the end of the video. Challenging the conventions makes this video more memorable.

Setting
Set in London - Soho, which is a very typical area for clubs and that genre of music from Prodigy.

Characters
The characters in this video fit in with the song as it is very heavy and crazy, which the characters appear to be in club. The people fit in with the dance music.
Also you do not see the main character of the video until the end, which is the main feature of the video.

Costumes
The characters in the club, mainly the girls wear very sexy costumes which is normally seen in clubs. Also the costume of the main character tells the audience that it is most likely to be a man.

Lyrics
In this song the lyrics are minimal. But the few lyrics that are present do fit in with some certain incidents that happen in the video, like when people are beaten up. The lyrics 'Smack my bitch up' does have some relevance.

Special Effects
There is hardly no special effects in this video, but only one trick where the main character has to be dunk. So it is shot from a point of view camera as we are not able to see the character, the camera spins and everything blurs to show the person is drunk.

Camera Angles
The only camera angle that is used in this music video is the self point of view angle, where we see what the character is seeing. This is so that the audience do not expect the twist that appears at the end.
